24HR LIGHT CYCLE Some growers will even give their autos a full 24 hours of light, arguing that this helps maximise vegetative growth. Growers who stick to 18-hour light cycles, on the other hand, argue that this gives their plants a short "recovery" period that is essential for healthy growth. From this, we conclude that cannabis plants thrive if they get continuous light through their growth stages so a non-stop 24/0 light cycle should be better for autos than say a 16/8 or 18/6 light schedule. The best option if you want to use the 12-hour days is to start your plants under 24/0 or 18/6 light schedule while they are in their vegetative growth stage and then switch the light cycle to 12/12 when the first pre-flowers appear. This will give your autos the most amount of growth and the yield will not suffer that much.
