A petrochemical plant with 13 cooling tower systems consumes 18,000 tons of water per day, including cooling towers. Water consumption accounts for 52% of the total water consumption. When the wastewater is in the cooling tower, because it contains carbon, calcium, magnesium and other substances, it will need to add medicine to control the water environment to avoid scaling. However, the operators cannot judge the water environment, so they will add chemicals regularly and quantitatively to adjust the water environment to maintain the system operation. However, the situation of water quality is not the same every day, and the way of timing and quantification is easy to cause the problem of overdosing and underdosing. Excessive dosing will increase the conductivity of the water body, affecting the concentration ratio and water recovery and reuse rate; however, insufficient dosing will cause scaling problems in the pipeline, poor heat exchange rate will increase energy consumption and require a large number of water changes. Therefore, the company introduced an AI precision dosing system to assist operators to effectively grasp the current water quality environment and accurately add chemicals to control the water environment, reducing unnecessary waste of drugs and water. Xie Wenbin said that after one year, the 13 water towers saved about 7 million yuan in water bills. Because Taiwan’s water fee is cheap, it may not be a key cost for many companies, Xie Wenbin said, but more importantly, this precise dosing system can help companies control raw materials from the source and avoid unnecessary increase in carbon consumption . In the past, when companies tested water treatment formulas, they would discard all of them if they did not comply with the regulations.
